Optional 1.5 Hour Class In-person/Online

The goals are as follows:

Reduce the number of crashes, injuries and deaths involving novice teen drivers by increasing parent awareness of teen driver safety issues and enhancing parental involvement in developing safer teen drivers.

Increase parent awareness of teen driving risks and laws.

Increase awareness of the important role parents play in influencing their teens to drive safely.

Provide resources for parents that help them fulfill their role effectively.

This availble online or in-person on select dates through out the year. There is no charge for the class.

PARENT SUPPLEMENTAL COURSE In-Person Class 2025 Dates

Parents must attend a class for every student who attends classroom in different sessions.

Parents must preregister for the class. Class may be cancelled if not enough parents register.

ONLINE PARENT SUPPLEMENTAL COURSE

Parents can complete the 90-minute course in one sitting or can split the class into as many sessions as needed. When the course has been completed, a certificate will be emailed to the parent. This certificate

will be presented to the driver examiner at the student's road test.Parents must complete a class for every student who attends classroom training in different sessions.

Can anyone drive with the student driver?

No. To qualify for a provisional license, a teen with a valid permit must drive under the supervision of a licensed driver who is at least 21 years of age for not less than 50 hours. At least 15 of the 50 hours must have taken place at night.

Do instructor hours count for family hours?

No. The 6 hours of instructor lead are separate from the 50 hours teens do at home.

Attending the class reduces family driving requirements?

Yes. It lowers the 50 hours (15 night) down to 40 hours (15 night). Parents are still encouraged to drive at least 50 hours whether they attend or not. More practice equals safer drivers
