Q. Who must take drivers education? A. Anyone under the age of 18 who wishes to qualify for their Minnesota driver’s license.
Q. How old must I be to start driver’s education? A. You can actually start the classroom portion of driver’s education when you are 14 years old. However, you will not be allowed by the State of Minnesota to take your driving permit test until you are 15 years old.
Q. How many hours of classroom training must I take? A. You are required to take 30 hours of classroom training. The 30 hours are divided into 10 three-hour sessions.
Q. How many classroom sessions a week do I take? A. Generally, classroom sessions during the school year are Monday through Friday for 2 weeks, 3 hours each, held right after school. Our summer classes meet Monday through Friday for two weeks. You have a choice of morning or afternoon.
Q. What about the behind the wheel lessons? A. Once you have passed your knowledge exam you may schedule your behind the wheel sessions. You are required to take 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction. You need 3 sessions; 2 hours per session. Sessions can be scheduled online and at least 30 days between appointments.
Q. How much does everything cost? A. The fees charged by Med City Driving School are as follows: $350 for classroom and behind the wheel sessions, $175 due before the first classroom session, and $25 off if paid in full. Additional behind the wheel hours can be added for $50 an hour.
